The Aurora Borealis

I painted the northern lights at art class a few months back. My art teacher showed me how to paint it. I had not done pine trees in a while so she had to show me how to do that again. They are allot more tricky than you would think. The background however was very simple. I am going to list the steps to do a painting like this.

  1. Dampen your paper. You may need to re dampen it later if it dries out.
  2. Choose your colors and mix them. I used Alizarin Crimson, Cad Scarlet, Cad Yellow Deep, and Antwerp.
  3. Pick up your first color with your brush gently mush it onto the damp paper. Repeat this with all of you colors making sure not to mix them. Allow the colors to run.
  4. Sprinkle salt on your wet colors, and wait for your painting to dry.
  5. When your painting has dried brush the salt away and gaze upon your stars.
  6. Find a pine tree tutorial and paint them over your background.

Variation: Choose sunset type colors and do not add salt. After the background has dried paint palm trees or whatever else you want.

The Flowerpot Monster

A while back I created a monster I think represents gardening. It is a fluffy worm wearing a boot, and gardening gloves. I have been creating monsters and this is one of my good ones. flower pot worm

The Promise of God

Romans 4:4-5 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted [c]as grace but as debt.5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 

We are justified by faith, not works. Romans 4:4 basically says that our works are not grace but debt! Our redemption is through Christ alone. Nothing we can ever do will repay him because it was a gift, and gifts are free! Attempts to be good enough are futile and based on pride and worry.

“If the promise of God is based on our performance it becomes worthless.” _ Our Pastor

Romans 4:13-15 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, 15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.

The law was created to show us our sins and point us to our savior. Jesus is the only way to get to heaven. He died and abolished the law. The law remains simply to point in two different directions. One is our sin, the other is God!

God accepts all and loves all with equal fervor.

Revelation 7:9-10 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”

Salvation belongs to God and he gives it to everyone, no matter how strong there faith is. True faith simply honors God and takes him at his word. God is incapable of only one thing, and that is breaking his promises. He will keep his promise to forgive you.
